Let Me Fall

My mom always got scared whenever I stood at the edge of the terrace wall. I often did this to tease her. I loved to see her scared and worried. She always said she would die because of me. My irresponsible antics will lead to her death.

After I shifted to America, with my neighbours, I often stand at the edge of the terrace remembering my mother and my home in Syria. I also hope that one day I trip and fall.

No!! I should live. I cannot waste this life that my mom gifted me twice. Once, by giving birth and second by shielding me from the bullets, while we were escaping our hometown. She was right when she said that I would become the reason for her death.
